It's time to start thinking about the pretty for your Wedding, yippee the fun part. Here are some things to think about when hiring your Wedding Florist:
1. Figure out how important florals are to you - If florals are important to you then you should be booking your florist 8+ months out (even more if your wedding is during high season, June - October). Many florists are one-woman shows so they only take on a few Weddings a weekend so you want to make sure you get the florist you want. If florals aren't of a high importance, for example, you are having small simple centerpieces and only the bouquets and boutonniere's, we still recommend that you book them 4 - 6+ months out.
2. Estimate an overall Floral Budget - We know it's hard to figure out exactly what your going to spend but here is a bit of a breakdown of some average costs below, but the easiest thing to do is have initial consults with florists and get quotes. Please keep in mind you get what you pay for, the cost of your centerpieces and bouquets is split based on the hard cost of the flowers but also all the labour that goes into creating the centerpieces and bouquets as well as delivery and setup on site if necessary.
Average Costs (all dependent on what you want)
Bride's Bouquet: $250 - $450
Bridesmaid's Bouquets: $200 - $350
Centerpieces: $100 - $750+++ each
For centerpieces it really depends on what you want as the cost can really vary. HINT: if you want big elaborate centerpieces plan to spend $500 per centerpiece. To cut down on costs consider different centerpieces on different tables, for example 2-3 different types of centerpieces total and then have them alternate so you can have a couple of the big show pieces but then also some smaller ones to save on costs.
3. Identify your style and what you want/like - Before you get in touch with anyone, it’s helpful if you have an idea about the types of flowers and floral design you like. Look around on Pinterest and real wedding features to get inspired. Don’t overthink this part too much as your florist can suggest different flowers based on your color palette, budget and overall style/theme of the Wedding.
