Dance Lessons make all the difference for your First Dance at your Wedding!

December 22, 2017

We've said it before and we'll say it again, the average song is 4 minutes long, that's a long time to be doing the Jr High Shuffle in front of your friends and family. Also, how much visual interest does the Jr High Shuffle bring for your photographer and/or videographer shooting your wedding? We want you to rock your first dance so we are including a free mini dance lesson with each staggered ticket time for the Experience during the day. We are also including a dance lesson in the evening with the Gala, choose which event you would rather attend or go to both.

Introducing Christine Mooney, Choreographer/Dance Instructor extraordinaire. Christine has over 8 years experience and we couldn't be more excited to have her on board to help our couples with their first dances.

We also want to give you some tips on how to choose your first dance song, here are some things to think about:

1. Find a common musical interest or genre you both like - Easier said than done right? Opposites do attract and you may not have the same taste in music but play some examples for each other and see if you can narrow down the genre.

2. Look for lyrics that speak to your relationship together - Finding a set of lyrics that tells your story is the difference between a sweet love song and your love song. Was your first date a blind date? Were you friends first before you started dating?  Did you spend a long time struggling with a long-distance relationship? Did you meet each other later in life with kids and/or a previous marriage already under your belt? Whatever your story is, there's a song that speaks to your love story. Hint: If either of you get emotional when listening to it, it's probably the one.

3. Pick a beat you think you can dance to - You want to make sure you will feel comfortable dancing to the song you have chosen so try it at home. Does it feel awkward, probably the first sign you should hire a dance instructor like Christine Mooney?

4. Don't be afraid to be unconventional - We love a sweet old-fashioned slow dance song but if you want to do something a little more up beat, go for it. Deciding whether to go traditional or funky is really up to you as couple and if you are a little more outgoing and spunky then perhaps you should mix it up, there is no song that can't be used for your first dance. Feeling really adventures, maybe try a mashup of songs so you can shock and surprise your guests, check out this example and many others on YouTube?

Tickets are on sale now for the experience during the day and the gala dinner in the evening, both of which offer dance lessons included in the price. Get your early bird tickets before Dec 30th!!

Happy Engagement,
